Waco Dentist
Get to Know Clara Griffey, DDS, FAGD
Born and raised in Waco, Dr. Griffey is thrilled to be back in her hometown and serving the community that has meant so much to her. She says that dentistry is like solving lots of little puzzles every day that require a mix of art, science, and dexterity, plus she gets to know people over the years and watch families grow up! It’s the perfect fit for her, and she can’t wait to share her passion while taking care of you.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Griffey attended Waco Montessori, St. Paul's Episcopal School, and Vanguard...and then of course Baylor University (sic em!), where she first earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art followed by a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. She went on to graduate from the Baylor College of Dentistry, more recently known as the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Dentistry in Dallas.
While she is out of school, Dr. Griffey has never stopped learning. To date, she has taken over 500 hours of continuing education and has her Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry (a distinction achieved by only 6% of dentists nationwide). She is also a past president of the Central Texas Dental Society and serves on the membership committee of the Texas Academy of General Dentistry. She was previously a delegate to the Texas Dental Association and will be a national delegate for the Academy of General Dentistry this year as a representative from Texas.
Dr. Griffey has been nominated as a Texas New Dentist of the Year by both the Central Texas Dental Society and the Fort Worth Component of the Texas Academy of General Dentistry. She’s also an active member of the American Dental Association and American Academy of Clear Aligners.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Dr. Griffey met her husband, Matthew, while at Baylor in Waco, and they now have three sons, two dogs, and two cats. In her spare time, she enjoys being a "boy mom," plus she plays cello in the McLennan Community Orchestra and attends Renew Church.
